As Wānaka’s only ski-specific tuning workshop, our Base Tune is a premium, handcrafted service designed to maximise edge hold and glide for skiers chasing peak performance in all snow conditions. This comprehensive tuning package is tailored for those who demand precision and reliability on every run — whether carving groomers, charging variable terrain, or attacking icy slopes. Every ski is tuned entirely by hand using race-proven techniques that focus on enhancing control, speed, and confidence. What’s included in the Base Tune? 1. Precision Edge Beveling: Custom edge angles expertly sharpened and polished by hand to deliver optimal grip and responsiveness on hardpack, ice, and variable snow surfaces. The bevel is adjusted to suit your skiing style and terrain preferences, ensuring maximum control. 2. Base Structuring: Using hand tools and expert knowledge, your ski bases are carefully structured to reduce friction and optimise glide across all snow types — from fresh powder to compact alpine snow. This micro-structuring enhances speed without sacrificing stability. 3. Hot Wax Application: A high-performance hot wax is applied and meticulously rubbed in by hand, sealing the base and ensuring smooth, fast rides. Wax choice is tailored to current and forecasted snow conditions to keep your skis performing at their best for longer. 4. Comprehensive Inspection: Each ski is thoroughly inspected before and after tuning to identify any damage, base repairs, or edge issues that may affect performance. We’ll advise on any necessary repairs or maintenance to keep your skis race-ready. Cancellation Policy
All tuning is by appointment with a standard 24–48 hr turnaround. Need it faster? Select Express Turnaround ($15) at checkout. Pick-up & Drop-off ($25) is available within Wānaka. If selected, please provide your full address. Express is not included and must be added separately. A valid credit or debit card is required to book. Your card won’t be charged until after service or if a cancellation/no-show fee applies. Payment is due on completion. We accept cash, bank transfer, or mobile payment. Add-ons are added to your final invoice. You’ll receive a confirmation email with service details. Cancellations or changes must be made at least 24 hrs in advance. Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged 50% of the service fee. All gear is inspected before tuning. We’ll contact you if any extra work is needed. Not liable for pre-existing damage. Ski-only workshop. No snowboard tuning. Splitboard riders — get in touch to see if your setup qualifies.
